1. Esoteric - Intended for or likely to be understood by only a small number of people with a specialized knowledge or interest.
Synonyms: Obscure, arcane, cryptic.
Antonyms: Simple, common, accessible.
Example: The professor’s lecture on quantum mechanics was so esoteric that only the most advanced students could follow it.
2. Intransigent - Unwilling or refusing to change one's views or to agree about something.
Synonyms: Uncompromising, stubborn, obstinate.
Antonyms: Flexible, compliant, yielding.
Example: Despite numerous discussions, the parties remained intransigent on their positions.
3. Laconic - Using very few words.
Synonyms: Brief, concise, terse.
Antonyms: Verbose, loquacious, wordy.
Example: His laconic reply suggested that he was not interested in continuing the conversation.
4. Munificent - More generous than is usual or necessary.
Synonyms: Generous, bountiful, lavish.
Antonyms: Stingy, miserly, ungenerous.
Example: The university received a munificent donation that funded several new scholarships.
5. Perfunctory - Carried out with a minimum of effort or reflection.
Synonyms: Cursory, superficial, automatic.
Antonyms: Thorough, attentive, diligent.
Example: His perfunctory nod indicated that he wasn't really paying attention to the details of the project.
